Filter coffee is still the most common preparation method to enjoy your coffee. The coffee is either brewed using a filter coffee machine or manually with a plastic or porcelain filter into which the filter paper is inserted. This is filled with approx. 7 grams of coffee powder and poured boiling water over it. First you just pour a small gush over the coffee so that the aroma can develop. After about half a minute, the rest of the boiling water is poured over the coffee. Filter coffee should be drunk immediately.
One of the oldest known methods of making coffee. Very finely ground coffee is put together with water, cardamom and sugar in a special pot called Cezve, heated until a fine foam forms.
In no Italian household is the traditional “Maccinetta”, an espresso pot consisting of a base, missing , which is filled with water. The fine espresso powder goes into the top. The jug is now screwed onto these two lower parts. During the heating on the oven, boiling water is pressed from the lower part through the coffee powder with pressure upwards into the jug and caught.
The coffee beans are prepared with a French Press (French cafetière or in the USA Melior called) ground a little more coarsely than usual. The coffee powder is then poured over a special jug with hot, no longer boiling water. After 3 to 5 minutes, the dissolved coffee powder is pressed onto the base of the jug with a special stainless steel stamp sieve to separate it from the finished coffee. This method was mainly practiced in France, but is finding more and more users. Many self-confessed coffee drinkers swear by this method of coffee preparation because the coffee from a French press is really a real pleasure!
Soluble coffee powder is simply poured with boiling water directly in the coffee cup.
Coffee pod – or coffee capsule machines prepare individual portions. A coffee pod or capsule is inserted into each cup, the machine is closed and hot water is brewed over the coffee at the push of a button. Coffee capsule machines are ideal for those who do not drink coffee much, as the aroma of the already ground coffee does not evaporate in the aluminum capsule and therefore stays fresh for a long time.
Here the freshly ground coffee powder is placed in a portafilter and lightly pressed onto the machine using a special device. After the portafilter has clicked into place, heated water is pressed through the coffee powder at high pressure. This creates the so-called “crema”, white foam on the coffee.
Whole beans are freshly ground and prepared at the push of a button. Different shapes can be prepared depending on the type of machine. In addition to coffee, espresso, cappuccino, milk coffee or latte macciato are also possible.
